Well, I can’t take credit for the image of Brianna in the livestock trailer, she saw this online somewhere…but, it’s freakin’ awesome. There was quiet abit of post-production work done on my end so I’m claiming it as my!lol The shoe’s shot is cool too! I’m having alot of fun this year with senior portrait images for the class of 2010. I’m shooting a million images of each senior, well maybe not a million….close tho! I’ve never done such a wide variety of styles, it’s exciting and different for sure. No sitting still here!

A couple of busy weeks here at Nelson’s Photography in Richland Center, Wisconsin. We’ve had quite a few class of 2010 seniors coming into the studio for their senior portraits the last two weeks and the phone has been ringing with seniors trying to schedule their appointments before schools starts, (yuck)! I think everyone has been surprized at how fast the summer went. I’m still hoping to get the blog updated more often but I wanted to share some awesome portraits of Michelle from River Valley High School. I especially liked the shots we did in the field. Enjoy!

Man, there are so many great images from Jenny, Jeff and Aubrey. It’s hard to stop working on them, what fun! I wanted to share a couple more with you. These are very casual and cool shots. I sure wish we could have more young families in the studio! Anybody! Give me a call!

My niece Jenny and her husband Jeff brought their daughter down to the studio for Aubrey’s one year old portraits this week. It was great to see the family here and we had a blast photographing Aubrey, she was near perfect for the entire session and we got sooooo many fun images of her in her different outfits and hats. I wanted to get this panel done right away to share with everybody online. What a terrific Mom and Dad Aubrey’s got, I’m so proud of Jenny and Jeff, they’re so blessed!

Here’s a few senior portraits that we did last week here at Nelson’s Photography Studio in Richland Center. We had a blast, as usual, with these kids and we got some images using area’s, locations and backgrouds in unique ways. In this post are Tom from Wisconsin Heights High, and Kim and Emma from River Valley.

…not together but they do go hand in hand right? More stuff from Lauren who is one of the studio’s representitives from Richland Center. I’ve been wanting to go outside with a prom dress for more work with the high-speed flash and Lauren was up for it. Once again, something different. Of course we still do all the usual shots, traditional and contemporary but one thing you can count on us for is that we won’t be sitting still!

Whoa, it’s been too long since my last post! June went by like a lighting bolt and here it is the end of the second week of July…why doesn’t January go this quickly? Oh well, I want to post some of the cooler stuff I’ve been up to the past few weeks. Here’s the first:

This is Ian from Richland Center. We had a great time during his session. This shot was done using high-speed off camera flash which is a new technique that we’ve been working on this summer. The look it gives you is really cool and edgy, kinda fashion/magazine. At any rate, a new look to add to our product line! Here’s another:

Taken with the same technique used with Ian, this is Dylan from Mineral Point. I really like how the skies turn-out with using high-speed flash. If you like this style or not, we got it here plus all of the other really cool, contemporary and traditional portraiture.

Rachel from Wauzeka was in the studio during the month of June and this image taken with more tradition outdoor lighting techiques. The softness of the wildflowers along with the colors make this image perfect for girls.

I photographed Molly’s older brother a couple years ago and it’s always great to see families returning to the studio. Molly’s from River Valley and I took a TON, yes that’s actually a number, of images for her. Molly fit right in here at the studio and it showed in her images. This is one of my favorite close-ups!

Last week I had the pleasure of hosting a group of senior portrait photographers from around the state here at my studio in Richland Center. Photographer friends from Beloit, Minneapolis, Green Bay and La Crosse came to town and with the help of senior portrait models Lydia from Richland Center and Tara from Ithaca we went “out and about” town and country using the vary unique buildings, structures and landscapes our town has to offer.
We spent two days together the first day photographing outdoor senior portraits and we challenged ourselves by shooting in direct, open sunshine…a real difficult thing to do, if you want it done right. We had a blast with both models. Tara had to leave alittle early because of a softball game so Lydia had to pull double duty for awhile. I don’t think she minded too much.
Take a look a some of these images and notice the lighting on the faces. Notice the balance with lighting on the model and the background. Note that the eyes and the mask of the face is properly lit. The eyes don’t look like “racoon eyes”, meaning….YOU CAN SEE THEM! In our business that’s considered important. I’m amazed at how many images taken by self-proclaimed “photographers” don’t put the light on the face of the subject. What’s even more amazing is that the subject doesn’t throw a fit when their face is in total black shadow! I don’t care how cheap those “photographers” are, if they charge anything it’s too much!
Well, here are some images for your enjoyment…more to follow.
